So you've decided your building needs a lift. But what Lift do you need? Consider these key questions to help you select the appropriate lift specification:

Traffic Analysis and Users

Number of People: Determine the number of lifts needed (single, duplex, triplex) based on traffic flow. Platform lifts hold 1-5 people; passenger lifts vary from small (4-6 people) to large (for people and goods).
Alternative Solutions: Consider escalators or moving walkways based on traffic and building size.

Lift Users

Identify if users are elderly, children, or disabled. Will they use the lift independently or with assistance?
Consider if users will carry Luggage, Goods. Or if you require a Vehicle lift for cars, motorcycles or bicycles.

New vs. Existing

New buildings can easily accommodate lift shafts; older buildings may need solutions like self-supporting structures or platform lifts. Can your building accommodate Hydraulic, Traction or Machine Room-Less Traction (M.R.L) installations

Available Space

Assess available space to determine suitable lift dimensions and capacities.

Travel Distance

Platform lifts typically cover up to 12m; passenger lifts can travel up to 40m or more.

Headroom and Pit Depth Space Constraints

Passenger lifts need greater pit depth and headroom. Platform lifts or ramps may be options if space is limited.

Existing Lift Shaft

Ensure existing shafts fit the headroom and pit requirements of your chosen lift. A site survey may be needed.

Customization

Customize the lift's appearance to match your building's aesthetic and budget.

Compliance Regulations

Ensure the lift meets all necessary regulations and standards (e.g., vandal resistance, fire-fighting, emergency evacuation, disabled access).
